Since 1977 the owner Leonardo fulfils the requests of the most exigent clientele in a very elegant and characteristic location with a super luxury service and the presentation of fine and tasty dishes. It is very easy to reach the restaurant: it is located in the vicinity of the monumental part of Alberobello, the Trulli area, in front of the Villa Comunale. This restaurant has been awarded several times: “Best Restaurant in Italy in 1993 “Restaurant Guide Gault Millau” and earned a classification 18/20 by the Michelin Guide.
The careful restructuring of an old stall has given birth to the restaurant as it is today: a refined yet rustic room. The restaurant has two large and comfortable areas furnished in liberty style. The fire place, the arches the impressive stone walls give the restaurant the air of a medieval court. In this suggestive climate, the owner presents his traditional dishes from Apulia.
The cuisine takes its inspiration from the typical regional dishes. The mix between ancient tradition and innovation gives as a result an original and creative synthesis. The restaurant is run by the whole family of the owner Mr Leonardo: his wife helps him in the kitchen whereas his son and his two daughters take care of the guests with their warm hospitality.
The wines are stored in an ancient well below the restaurant where they lie in the dark at the ideal temperature.
The restaurant's wine cellar is famous worldwide. It has been awarded by the Espresso as the best Italian wine cellar in 1997 and with the “Grand Award” by Wine Spectator in the same year (1997) as one of the best wine cellars in the World and still awarded ever since.
The restaurant has 3 naturally air-conditioned wine cellars. There are about 25.000 bottles with 3300 labels both national and imported. It is possible to find the good valuable wines from Apulia as well as wines from the New Continent. The owner can also boast vintage wines which are very hard to find both Italian and French.
