Masseria Palombara

Location
The silence of the countryside, the drystone walls and ancient olive trees are the backdrop to Masseria Palombara, situated less than 20 km from the splendid white beaches of Punta Prosciutto and San Pietro in Bevagna and  2.5 km from the charming medieval hamlet of Oria. Brindisi Airport is just 35 km distant.  

Hotel

Set in a large holding of 100 hectares, amidst almond trees, palms and old olive trees, the Masseria Palombara has grown organic produce for the past 15 years. The complex comprises two areas, the main building and the “Dépendance” (annexe); within the bounds of the property there is an interesting archaeological site. 

The main building is the most ancient part of the Masseria, built between 1700 and 1800 and marked by star vault and barrel vault ceilings, tuff stone, whitewash, vintage furnishings and valuable carpets. It offers nine rooms between Classic and Deluxe, plus one exclusive room, the Suite Palombara, with a secret garden and a small private pool with hydromassage waterfall. There is also reception, a saltwater pool, and a small spa. The restaurant too is in the main body of the structure, as is a Wine Bar and a small boutique offering bags, ceramics, artisan furnishing details and products of the Masseria. 

The “Dépendance” (annexe) is located about 300 m from the main building, and can be reached by a 10-minute stroll along the tree-shaded pathways, or on the bicycles provided by the hotel,  or by car. 

The annexe was obtained by renovating old farmhouses built in the 1960s. This complex, which offers six rooms plus the Cooking Suite, has its own pool and a gym with Technogym equipment.

By choice of the Management there is no TV either in the rooms or common areas, thus allowing guests a full-immersion experience in the tranquillity of the Masseria and its philosophy. 

Only children aged 12 and older are allowed at the Masseria.

Rooms

The 20 rooms and Suites are divided between the two complexes which form the Masseria: some are located in the main building, the others are in the "Dépendance", about 300 far from the masseria.

They all have independent entrance, free Wi-Fi, pool towels, bikes and a comfortable external patio, equipped for your moments of pure relaxation with deckchairs and small tables. By choice of management, no room is equipped with TV. 

Wellness centre

The main building of the Masseria hosts a relaxing spa with Hammam, crystal sauna, relaxation and massage rooms. The ancient rooms have been converted into spaces for health and beauty treatments; the spa circuit costs € 80.00 per couple, for exclusive use lasting 2 hours, while massages cost approximately € 70.00 per hour.

Beach

The nearest beaches are: San Pietro in Bevagna and Campo Marino (about 20 min distant), Punta Prosciutto and Torre Colimena (about 30 min).

Masseria guests are entitled to a special rate at beach concession Posto 9 Campomarino (€ 25.00 per day for a beach umbrella and two sunbeds).

Restaurant

The Masseria boasts an excellent restaurant, using all local products, mostly produce from its organic garden and other local producers. 

Breakfast is with table service, with a range of sweet and savoury dishes, and it is served from 8.00 to 10.00.

Light lunch with “à la carte” menu is available near the main pool, from 13.00 to 15.00.

Dinner with “à la carte” gourmet menu is served in the courtyard of the Masseria or in its restaurant rooms from 19.30 to 22.30.

Services and activities

The Masseria Palombara offers the following services free of charge: vehicle parking,  Wi-Fi in rooms and communal areas, pool, pool towels, sun umbrellas and gazebo, gym, push-bikes, open-air cinema, a Technogym gym set in lush greenery in the area of the Dépendance.

Services requiring payment: Spa course, massages, cooking class (maximum 6 persons, costing € 98.00 per person including lunch, for a 4-hour class).

In the main building close to the Spa there is a fine saltwater pool where a light lunch is served; the second pool is for the use of the Dépendance.

In the vicinity: the ceramics of Grottaglie (about 20 min away); the Valle d’Itria, Cisternino, Alberobello, Lecce, Gallipoli about an hour away; Polignano a Mare and Matera about an hour and 10/20 mins; Taranto 40 minutes.

The cost of the taxi service from the  Masseria to Brindisi Airport is about € 60.00.
